Hospitals and clinics need watchful coverage of entrances, emergency areas and pharmacy stock, while keeping patient areas private. Hospitals are on the list of establishments that must keep working CCTV under the Punjab and Sindh 2015 Acts.

Rules that apply

  • The Punjab Security of Vulnerable Establishments Act 2015 counts installed, working CCTV as a required security arrangement, and managers must hand footage to the police on request. Source: Punjab Laws
  • Sindh's Security of Vulnerable Establishments Act 2015 uses the same list of establishments. Source: Sindh Laws

What the cameras should cover

  • Main entrance and emergency entry
  • Reception and waiting area
  • Pharmacy and medicine store
  • Parking and ambulance bay
  • Corridors (not inside patient rooms)

Recommended setup

  • Dome cameras indoors, bullet cameras outside
  • A UPS or inverter on the recorder and cameras, so recording continues during load-shedding
  • Enough hard-drive space for the days of recording you need (we size the drive in days, not just terabytes)
  • Viewing access limited to administration and security

Questions from healthcare clients

Is CCTV required for hospitals?

Do you put cameras in patient rooms?
